Congratulations to Miss Pace and the Dance Team on their amazing and heart-felt performance at the The Great Big Dance Off 2020! Out of the many schools that applied during the first round, the dance club had the fantastic opportunity to dance at the New Alexander Theatre in Birmingham on 3rd February. They have worked so hard since October, to perfect their piece and to convey their important message about girls’ rights and letting their voices be heard. The girls delivered an amazing and emotional performance and loved every part of the day, including getting to see backstage and being part of a professional show. Out of the 16 schools that made it through to the regional heats, the Leighswood Dance Team came 7th overall with a score of 146 out of 200. This is a fantastic achievement, up against tough competition, and the girls should be immensely proud of themselves. Well done we are proud of you.
Children have been learning about Remembrance this week. Every child has made a poppy and there is a display in both key stage halls – see photographs.

Success for Year 5 & 6 Athletics teams!
On Monday 2nd July 2018 a team of children, from years 5 and 6, once again competed at the Shire Oak Academy, Primary Partnerships Olympic Event Leighswood retained the trophy, for the second year in a row, topping the leader board for Year 5 boys, Year 6 boys and Year 6 girls. It was a very close competition this year, with the schools in second and third only missing out by a couple of points.
“We are so proud of the children; they demonstrated fantastic skills, especially when it came to the longer distances of the 800m. This is a result of the fantastic support the children receive from our Sports Coach, Harry Rogers”
Well done Leighswood.
